Purpose: Poultry Guard is applied on the bare floor to lower the pH of the floor to pH +/- 2 after a complete clean-out.
- Procedure:
- Completely remove all old litter, including the corners and sidewalls.
- Wash downs and disinfection must be completed at least two days prior to applying Poultry Guard.
- Use any type of mechanical spreader that insures even application.
- Apply Poultry Guard evenly over the entire floor of the house.
- Application can be any time after the complete clean-out and prior to applying new litter.
- New litter can be applied immediately after application.
- Application Rates:
- 100 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. evenly distributed on the entire house floor.
- House Management/ Preparation:
- No special management/preparation procedures are required other than completely removing all litter prior to application.
- Safety Procedures and Protective gear
- Wear gloves, eye protection and dust mask
- Wear long sleeve shirt and pants that cover boots
- Cover shoes with plastic boots or wear rubber boots
- Have a container of water containing baking soda with a rag to wipe off face and arms if material starts to cause discomfort during application.
- Clean Up
- Thoroughly clean the application equipment with water after use and spray with a light coat of oil
- Household ammonia or baking soda can be used to neutralize the product
Shock Treatment with birds present

- Apply Poultry Guard evenly to the entire floor at the rate of not less than 100 lbs. per 1000 square feet.
- A drop spreader is suggested for this application and someone to go ahead and move the birds out of the way when spreading the material.
